Our blk morgans love to work

Welcome to Our Ranch

BLK Morgans is a ranching operation near the Manitoba and Saskatchewan border. We are about 2.5 hours from the US border to Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, Canada, which is North of us.

Versatile and built to work.

We operate a mixed commercial cattle operation along with our Morgan horses. We use our Morgans on our ranch at home as well as at rodeos, team pennings, occasional parades and we hire out to work cattle presort auction sales where we sort out the cattle with our Morgan horses before the actual auction sale day.

This 2023 filly is off of Bar LT S Snow Angel and BLK Kaposvar Gold Kommander.

Horses have always been a part of our lives.

Both my husband (Brian) and myself grew up with horses and are from an agricultural background (with cattle and horses). Each of us raised horses before being married and after we were married we raised ranch horses that were crossed with Belgian horses and Quarter Horses. We found that this cross provided a more substantial bone and size of hoof for a solid working horse on the ranch. We loved the big solid build and the strength that this combination made. So when we decided to breed Morgans on our ranch we couldn’t have been any happier than when we purchased LV Kommander as our senior stud.

Kommander has moved on to greener pastures, and the livestock we have exemplify the qualities that Kommander possessed and passed onto his foals. We presently have two younger stallions that we are using, both going back to Kommander – one is off of our 16.2 hh buckskin mare Goldy and the other is off of our 15 hh palomino mare Angel.

Part of our training for our Morgans includes working at the local Auction Barn.

We have been busy trying to get our young stock started under saddle and we introduce them to many new experiences at the rodeo grounds, auction barn – where they learn to open and close gates and move cattle to the proper pens for sale day, and they are also exposed to wild animals, as we live near a valley and the wildlife frequent our land.

If you would like to come and visit us to see our beautiful Morgans, please contact us prior to and we will work with you to arrange a date and time to accommodate your visit.
